For us Pardos, no trip to Cincinnati is complete without a walk down to Great American Ballpark to see a Reds game (which is why we generally visit in spring and summer).
My parents are dedicated Over-the-Rhine residents, so the ballpark is just a hop and skip away, and we always make a point to do the baseball thing.
This year, tickets were relatively more difficult to get, as our local team is, for the first time in a LOOOOOONG time, kicking ass.
They could have clinched the division the day before, but we hoped they would hold out for us.
Luckily (? or !), they lost that game, and we dragged a bunch of my Cincy friends to this game, you know, just in case.
Much to everyone’s pleasure, THIS was the game that clinched the division, and now the Reds are in the running (for real!) for the World Series, a feat they have not accomplished since 1990. If they DO make it, there will definitely be another, last-minute trip to Cincinnati in a few weeks! Good luck, guys! I knew all those sad days of rooting for you would pay off!
